The scariest way to freak people out is to have two people and one of them doesn’t activate the trigger and so the second one activates it. Just imagine the terror like you go ahead to make sure there’s no scares. OK walks through the door where the creator put a trigger. trigger doesn’t activate. P1 OK there’s no scares come on P2 walks through the same door frame trigger activates.

The first map is terrifying at first, but when it happens one more time you just expect it now. I think the best way to scare the player is by just making the thing appear one time, and just never again. It makes the player try and find it even though there's nothing there to find, they keep on trying to find the thing but they'll never find it, they feel like they're being watched because of that that thing but even though there not being watched.
