Yellow Dyes are sometimes needed for Ghosts Ahoy but since you don't know what three colors you need, most people just bring 3 red, 3 yellow, and 3 blue with them so they can mix them on the spot once they know what they need. So most of the time you were probably selling those dyes to members preparing for that quest.

There are at least 6 yellow dyes required for all quests per account, so I imagine these will always be in demand. Especially since several of them are low level quests that bots do, which rapidly consumes them as they get banned.
