The player with the highest die goes first but uses the results of both dice rolled on their first turn. If it is a die then both players reroll. When rolling dice you must roll both dice together in your cup onto your right-hand section of the board. If any dice go outside of your board, land on a checker, or doesn’t land flat, the roll is invalid and you must reroll both dice. A turn is completed when the player picks up his dice. If the play is incomplete or otherwise illegal, the opponent has the option of accepting the play as made or requiring the player to make a legal play. A play is deemed to have been accepted as made when the opponent rolls his dice or offers a double to start his own turn. If a player rolls before his opponent has picked up the dice to complete his turn, the player's roll is voided. This rule is generally waived any time a play is forced, like when your opponent is unable to play. The dice indicate how many points you can move a checker. Checkers always move around the board in the direction from your opponent’s home base, to their outer board, to your outer board, then into your home base. A checker may only be moved to an empty point, a point you already have checkers in, or a point that is occupied by exactly one opponent checker. You may move the same checker more than once a turn. A player who rolls doubles plays the numbers shown on the dice twice, for a total of 4 moves. The player may move any combination of checkers he feels appropriate to complete this requirement. A player must use both numbers of a roll if this is legally possible, or all four numbers of a double. When only one number can be played, the player must play that number. If either number can be played but not both, the player must play the larger one. When neither number can be used, the player loses his turn. In the case of doubles, when all four numbers cannot be played, the player must play as many numbers as he can. A point occupied by a single checker of either color is called a blot. If an opposing checker lands on a blot, the blot is removed and placed on the middle-raised area of the board, called: the bar. Any time a player has one or more checkers on the bar, his first obligation is to enter those checkers into the opposing home board. A checker is entered by moving it to an open point corresponding to one of the numbers on the rolled dice. 1 being the 24 point and 6 being the 19 point. If neither of the points are open, the player loses his turn. If a player can enter some, but not all of his checkers, he must enter as many as he can and then forfeit the remainder of his turn. After all the player’s checkers on the bar have been entered, any unused numbers on the dice must be played, by moving either the checker that was entered or a different checker. Once a player has moved all fifteen of his checkers into his home board, he may begin bearing them off. A player bears off a checker by rolling a number that corresponds to the point on which the checker resides, and then removing that checker from the board. Thus, rolling a 3 permits the player to remove a checker from the 3 point. A player is under no obligation to bear off if he can make an otherwise legal move. If there is no checker on the point indicated by the roll, the player must make a legal move using a checker on a higher-numbered point. If there are no checkers on higher-numbered points, the player is required to bear off a checker from the highest point on which one of his checkers resides. For example, if you roll a three, you cannot bear off a 1 point checker unless that is the only point where checkers remain...

In Backgammon, there are 15 possible opening moves, according to the die roll. When a neural network was used to play millions of games of backgammon, some optimal opening plays were discovered that went against what most people thought before. Each player has a set of 15 "men" that must be moved from their starting positions, around, and then off the board. Dice are thrown each turn, and each player must decide which of his men to move based on the outcome of the roll. Players can capture each other's men, forcing the captured men to restart their journey around the board. The winner is the first player to get all 15 men off the board. A more recent addition to the game is the "doubling cube", which allows players to up the stakes of the game, as it is often played for money. Although the game relies on dice to determine movement, there is a large degree of strategy in deciding how to make the most effective moves given each dice roll as well as measuring the risk in terms of possible rolls the opponent may get. Backgammon may be the first game to be mentioned in written history, going back 5,000 years to the Sumerians of ancient Mesopotamia. During the 1920's, archaeologists unearthed five boards from a cemetery in the ancient town of Ur. At another location, pieces and dice were also found along with the board. Boards from ancient Egypt have also been recovered from the tomb of Tutankhamun, including a mechanical dice box, no doubt intended to stop cheaters. The names of the game were many. In Persia, Takhteh Nard which means "Battle on Wood". In Egypt, Tau, which may be the ancestor of Senat. In Rome, Ludus Duodecim Scriptorum ("game of twelve marks"), later, Tabula ("table"), and by the sixth century, Alea ("dice"). In ancient China, T-shu-p-u and later in Japan, Sugoroko. The English name may derive from "Bac gamen" meaning "Back Game", referring to re-entry of taken stones back to the board. It was often enjoyed by the upper classes and is sometimes called "The Aristocratic Game." The Roman Emperor Claudius was known to be such a fan that he had a set built into his coach so he could play as he traveled (the world's first travel edition?). Making backgammon board / How to make backgammon / Backgammon game Hello friends. In this woodworking, I made a wooden backgammon from pine, mahogany, hornbeam and mulberry wood. I adjusted the dimensions of the backgammon according to my wishes. I shared the measurements at the end of the video. In addition to wood glue, I used instant adhesive and activator spray when making the backgammon. I used wax oil at the end of the backgammon. I applied spline joint to the corners of the backgammon. In the making of backgammon; I used a table saw, hand milling machine, hand planer, eccentric sander, thickness machine, Japanese hand saw, grinding machine. It was a beautiful and enjoyable wooden design. I hope you enjoy this wood project. Thank you very much for your interest.
