In this Cadiz, Spain Vlog, I take you with me as I explore my new favorite place in Spain, showing you what to do with 1 day in Cadiz, Spain. Before visiting Cadiz, Spain I didn’t know too much about this city as not many people I met during my travels have been to Cadiz, Spain before. But, oh man, did I fall in love with the magical city of Cadiz, from its old town center to the beautiful beaches and incredible architecture. I hope you enjoy my Cadiz Spain tour! To start off my Cadiz Spain Vlog, I went to a beautiful cafe in Cadiz old town called El Cafe de Ana. After a delicious breakfast I walked to the Cadiz Central Market to experience local life in Cadiz, Spain and watch tons of people buy and sell fresh fish. Next on my Cadiz Spain Travel Vlog, I climbed to the top of Tavira Tower for incredible views over the city of Cadiz. The views from the top of Tavira Tower are absolutely spectacular. You have amazing views over the Cadiz old town and the beautiful blue water. Visiting the top of the Tavira Tower is definitely one of the best things to do in Cadiz, Spain. Next up on my Cadiz Spain tour, I walked to Genoves Park, which is the main park in Cadiz. After roaming around the park, I walked to the Santa Catalina Castle, which is one of my favorite places I visited in my Cadiz Spain Vlog. Right next to the Santa Catalina Castle is the main city beach in Cadiz, Spain called La Caleta Beach, which is a must visit in Cadiz. I also tried to visit the Castle of San Sebastian but it was unfortunately closed during my time in Cadiz, but the walk to the castle was still gorgeous! For lunch in my Cadiz, Spain Vlog, I went to a neighborhood called La Vina to get some delicious fresh fish for lunch. The La Vina neighborhood is a great place to walk around and enjoy the city of Cadiz. Next on my Cadiz Spain tour, I went to the famous Cadiz Cathedral, which is absolutely stunning and a must visit in Cadiz, Spain. After admiring the Cadiz Cathedral, I went to another one of Cadiz, Spain’s many beaches called La Playita / Playa de las Mujeres / Playa de Santa Maria Del Mar. Here I am walking around in Cádiz, Spain (Andalucia) on a warm summer day in July 2022. Cádiz is a city and port in southwestern Spain. It is the capital of the Province of Cádiz, one of eight that make up the autonomous community of Andalusia. It is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Western Europe, with archaeological remains dating to the 12th century BC. The city of Cadiz is also an amazing place to explore on foot. Situated at the end of a peninsula, it is surprisingly compact and easy to navigate, even for the most timid of visitors. Its cathedral, its ancient walls, its old fortifications, and its narrow streets all work to invite the visitor into the city's heart and engulf them in the soul of the place. As you walk through its narrow alleys, it almost feels as though centuries of history are wandering along with you, silent witnesses to the the many events that comprise the past. The old city center of Cadiz looks quite Moorish in appearance and is intriguing with narrow cobbled streets opening onto small squares. The golden cupola of the cathedral looms high above long white houses and the whole place has a slightly dilapidated air. It just takes an hour to walk around the headlands where you can visit the entire old town and pass through some lovely parks with sweeping views of the bay. Cádiz is a city and port in southwestern Spain. It is the capital of the province of Cádiz, one of eight which make up the autonomous community of Andalusia. Cádiz, the oldest continuously inhabited city in Spain and one of the oldest in western Europe, has been a principal home port of the Spanish Navy since the accession of the Spanish Bourbons in the 18th century. The city is a member of the Most Ancient European Towns Network. It is also the site of the University of Cádiz. Situated on a narrow slice of land surrounded by the sea‚ Cádiz is, in most respects, a typically Andalusian city with a wealth of attractive vistas and well-preserved historical landmarks. The older part of Cádiz within the remnants of the city walls is commonly referred to as the Old Town (Spanish: Casco Antiguo). It is characterized by the antiquity of its various quarters (barrios), among them El Pópulo, La Viña, and Santa María, which present a marked contrast to the newer areas of town. While the Old City's street plan consists of narrow winding alleys connecting large plazas, newer areas of Cádiz typically have wide avenues and more modern buildings. In addition, the city is dotted with numerous parks where exotic plants flourish, including giant trees "supposedly" brought to Spain by Columbus from the New World. Source: 🤍

Son histoire est bâtie par les Grecs et les Carthaginois. C'est d’ici qu’est parti Hannibal pour conquérir l'Italie. Sous la domination de l'empire romain, la ville est réputée pour ses exportations de sauce de poisson fermentée - le garum - et pour ses danseuses, comme Telethusa. Après la chute de l’empire, différentes conquêtes se succèdent : les Vandales, les Byzantins, les Wisigoths. Le califat Omeya, après la victoire du général Tariq Ibn Ziyad à la bataille de Guadalete, en fait l'une des premières villes de la péninsule à faire partie d'Al Andalus. En 1262, Alphonse X le Sage incorpore la ville au royaume de Castille. Au XVe siècle, elle est l’escale favorite des navires génois et vénitiens. C'est probablement à cette époque que remonte l’importation de la tradition du carnaval. L'importance stratégique de son port lui confère un nouveau dynamisme à l'époque des découvertes. C’est d’ici que prend le départ le deuxième voyage de Christophe Colomb vers l'Amérique. En 1717, en raison des difficultés de navigation sur le Guadalquivir, la Casa de Contratación s’installe à Cadix qui s’approprie ainsi le monopole commercial avec l'Amérique dont jouissait Séville jusqu’alors. La cathédrale Sainte-Croix est construite à cette époque. Le 21 octobre 1805, la flotte qui interviendra dans la bataille de Trafalgar prend le départ à Cadix. Lors de l'invasion napoléonienne, Cadix résiste au siège français malgré son infériorité. C'est à Cadix qu'est promulguée la première Constitution espagnole du 19 mars 1812 : La Pepa. Toutefois, en 1823, l'entrée des Cent mille fils de Saint Louis en soutien de Ferdinand VII qui est détenu au Palacio de la Aduana met fin à la résistance des libéraux de Cadix. Aujourd'hui, Cadix nous offre une multitude d'attractions : son carnaval célèbre pour l'ingéniosité de ses chirigotas, des compositions musicales carnavalesques, les sites naturels proches de la ville tels que les parcs de la Sierra de Grazalema et des Alcornocales, ou des lieux aussi magiques que les Villages blancs et bien entendu les merveilleuses plages qui jalonnent ses côtes.

Unter anderem mit die grösste Biodiversität auf der Welt, an der Küste mehr Sonnenstunden als auf dem restlichen Kontinent und auch im Winter noch ein angenehmes Klima. Los reyes se han animado a participar en una "cajoneada" popular, organizada a las puertas del Gran Teatro Falla de Cádiz, donde Felipe VI se ha sentado en un cajón flamenco junto a otros ciudadanos que estaban aprendiendo a tocar. El sonido del cajón flamenco, todo un símbolo del mestizaje entre las culturas hispanas, ha dado esta tarde en Cádiz la bienvenida al IX Congreso Internacional de la Lengua Española, y a su llegada al teatro para asistir al espectáculo inaugural, "Tiempo de luz", los reyes, tras salir del coche, se han acercado al lugar donde se celebraba la "cajoneada". "El primer rey cajonero" ha proclamado "el Guille", uno de los percusionistas que han dirigido esta acción sonora en la que se han unido 62 cajones. La reina y el rey se han acercado entonces en los dos cajones que estaban libres y Felipe VI ha tocado brevemente uno de ellos, sumándose al cante de la rumba "Ali oh". El Instituto Cervantes y el Ayuntamiento de Cádiz han organizado una cajoneada, para conmemorar el origen del cajón flamenco con esta actividad a la que se ha sumado el público asistente. Fue en 1977 cuando Paco de Lucía descubrió este instrumento, el cajón, en una gira por América en Perú, el sonido llamó su atención y comenzó a tocar la guitarra con él.
