October 1939 and Scotland saw the first Luftwaffe Air Raid of World War 2. On 3rd September 1939, Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain declared war on Germany. Britain’s armed forces of soldiers, sailors and airmen were mobilised and sent to take on the might of the German war machine. The residents of Scotland could be forgiven for thinking that this war was taking place many miles from home but on 16th October 1939 they would be proved very wrong. On a bright Monday morning, the war arrived in Scotland on the Firth of Forth. The Firth of Forth has long been a safe port for the Royal Navy with the Naval Base and Dockyard at Rosyth on the north bank of the Forth. On 16th October, a reconnaissance mission of German Heinkel He111s thought they had spotted Battlecruiser HMS Hood in the estuary and a squadron of Junkers Ju 88 bombers were hastily armed and readied for flight. It was in fact HMS Repulse that had been spotted but the Junkers Ju88 bombers still attacked HMS Mohawk and HMS Southampton that were at anchor close to the Forth Bridge. Royal Auxiliary Air Force spitfires of 602 City of Glasgow Sqn and 603 City of Edinburgh Squadron stood in the way of what would become the very first time the Luftwaffe would attack Britain during World War 2. - Comments are always welcome and I try to respond to as many as possible. In 1940 the Cunard Liner RMS. Queen Elizabeth - then then largest ship ever built - set sail on its maiden voyage. But Queen Elizabeth - pride of the Cunard fleet - was not carrying any passengers on its voyage. It only had a small skeleton crew aboard. In fact, RMS. Queen Elizabeth was sailing under complete secrecy! Expected to make a short voyage to Southampton, the untested and untried RMS Queen Elizabeth set sail for New York at high speed at what has been described as a "mad dash" to safety across the North Atlantic Ocean - to escape the Nazi Luftwaffe which was sent to destroy her! RMS Queen Elizabeth went on to serve as a troop ship in World War II - and was acknowledged by Winston Churchill as helping to shorten the war by at least a year. Join maritime historian and author Chris Frame and explore the early history of the RMS. Queen Elizabeth, from construction at John Brown Shipyard to her years of service as a troopship during World War II that included troop voyages to support D-Day all the way through to VE Day! In 1955 Sukhoi debuted the Su-7, originally developed as a fighter bomber, and then rapidly becoming a major Soviet ground attack aircraft in the 1960s. The Su-7 was rugged in its simplicity, but its Lyulka AL-7 engine had such high fuel consumption that it seriously limited the aircraft's payload, as even short-range missions required that at least two hardpoints be used to carry drop tanks rather than ordnance. 1ª TV it. 24 marzo – 25 aprile 1980 Rete it. After his recent expose’ on the massively underperforming, but big fee charging Balanced Fund unit trusts, Ranmore Funds founder Sean Peche has taken his attack on money management ripoffs to a new level. The highly qualified asset management insider (CA, CFA) describes results of a lengthy and thorough investigation into unit trust Fact Sheets and in particular the Performance Fees charged in SA, as a “Nuclear Bomb” compared with his Balanced Funds “Scud Missile”. He notes that Performance Fees on retail funds are a uniquely South African feature, having been abandoned elswhere by competition and regulator action. Peche took BizNews.com's Alec Hogg through a presentation where he lays out the shocking results uncovered by his research. It shows, inter alia, that SA’s Big Three asset managers – Allan Gray, Coronation and Ninety One – are generating billions in unwarranted fees through applying self-serving self benchmarks to deliver huge “Performance Fees” - in some instances even when they have been losing money for investors.
Pakistan operates a fleet of approximately 157 aging Dassault Mirage III/5 aircraft. Pakistani Air Force remains the only operator of the Mirage III and the only major operator of the Mirage 5 - fighters the country’s military has gone to great lengths to modernise and upgrade to keep them viable for modern warfare. The Mirage III proved to be a formidable weapon in the hands of the Pakistani Air Force. Pakistan’s Air Force would use the Mirage III highly effectively during the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War while suffering no losses. The Mirage III was developed into the Mirage 5 - an attack jet based on the same airframe. Pakistan’s modernised Mirage III fighters are nevertheless a formidable asset which enlarge the country’s fleet considerably. In 1945, the United States dropped not one, but two nuclear bombs on Japan, ending World War II. The alternative to this controversial move? An invasion of the Japanese Home Islands that would have cost the lives of millions. Harry Truman, as it turns out, made the right call. CORRECTION: At 7:26, the video erroneously states Gadget's explosion as equaling a force of 20 million tons of TNT. The explosion was actually equivalent to 22 kilotons or 22,000 tons of TNT or 909 times less than stated. Oppenheimer is probably rolling over in his grave. I apologize for the error. Through history the operations were conducted using ship's boats as the primary method of delivering troops to shore. Since the Gallipoli Campaign, specialised watercraft were increasingly designed for landing troops, materiel and vehicles, including by landing craft and for insertion of commandos, by fast patrol boats, zodiacs (rigid inflatable boats) and from mini-submersibles. The term amphibious first emerged in the UK and the USA during the 1930s with introduction of vehicles such as Vickers-Carden-Loyd Light Amphibious Tank or the Landing Vehicle Tracked.Amphibious warfare includes operations defined by their type, purpose, scale and means of execution. In the British Empire at the time these were called combined operations which were defined as "...operations where naval, military or air forces in any combination are co-operating with each other, working independently under their respective commanders, but with a common strategic object." All armed forces that employ troops with special training and equipment for conducting landings from naval vessels to shore agree to this definition. Since the 20th century an amphibious landing of troops on a beachhead is acknowledged as the most complex of all military maneuvers. The undertaking requires an intricate coordination of numerous military specialties, including air power, naval gunfire, naval transport, logistical planning, specialized equipment, land warfare, tactics, and extensive training in the nuances of this maneuver for all personnel involved.

🧐 ArtAlienTV Exclusive ! - " Was there a Nuclear explosion on Mars back in 1941? Famous Astronomer Clyde Tombaugh certainly thought so. This notable genius who discovered Pluto in 1930 witnessed the very bright flash on Mars in 1941. He also advised the US military on the matter. Quote. Although our own solar system is believed to support no other life than on Earth, other stars in the galaxy may have hundreds of thousands of habitable worlds. Races on these worlds may have been able to utilize the tremendous amounts of power required to bridge the space between the stars..." Tombaugh stated that he had observed celestial phenomena which he could not explain, but had seen none personally since 1951 or 1952. "These things, which do appear to be directed, are unlike any other phenomena I ever observed. Their apparent lack of obedience to the ordinary laws of celestial motion gives credence ". In 1949, Tombaugh had also told the Naval missile director at White Sands Missile Range, Commander Robert McLaughlin, that he had seen a bright flash on Mars on August 27, 1941, which he now attributed to an atomic blast. Tombaugh also noted that the first atomic bomb tested in New Mexico would have lit up the dark side of the Earth like a neon sign and that Mars was coincidentally quite close at the time, the implication apparently being that the atomic test would have been visible from Mars. - I have also gone into some detail about the Nuclear war on Mars theory proposed by Dr John Brandenburg. A theory that is backed up by my extensive finds on the Mars surface. Video first published on YouTube by ArtAlienTV on 23rd January 2015. William Guy Banister was an FBI agent, private investigator, and intelligence operative who had a mysterious connection to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. During the 1950s, he worked as an investigator for the FBI and was stationed in New Orleans. In 1956, he left the FBI and opened his own private investigation and intelligence agency, Banister & Associates. In the early 1960s, Banister became closely associated with the militant anti-Castro Cuban exile group, the Cuban Revolutionary Council, and its leader, Sergio Arcacha Smith. Banister was also closely tied to the notorious mobster Carlos Marcello, who had direct connections to the Kennedy assassination. Banister was also the contact person for Lee Harvey Oswald, the alleged assassin of President Kennedy. In the weeks before the assassination, Oswald had visited Banister's office several times. He had also sought help from Banister to establish his "Fair Play for Cuba Committee."
