Cruise Ship Scrap смотреть последние обновления за сегодня на .
#CruiseShips Looking to cut costs as COVID-19 ravaged the cruise industry, Carnival Cruise Line sold six ships for scrap. At the Aliaga ship-breaking yard in Turkey, Carnival's Fantasy, Imagination, and Inspiration ships are in the process of being demolished. Here, workers cut apart and recycle every piece of these massive ships. It's one of most dangerous jobs in the world. And it's only gotten harder as more cruise ships arrive on Aliaga's shores. #cruiseship #cruise #ships World's biggest cruise ship sent for scrap before maiden voyage. This video is all about world's biggest cruise ship sent for scrap before maiden voyage and also try to cover the following subject: -global dream cruise ship -worlds largest cruise ship -cruise ship scrap The ship, Global Dream 2, and a sister ship that had also been under construction at the MV Werften shipyard in Germany, were designed to hold more than 9,000 passengers, making them the world’s largest cruise ships by passenger capacity. At 208,000 tons each, the vessels would have been tied for the world’s sixth-largest cruise ships by size when complete, just behind Royal Caribbean’s five ground-breaking Oasis-class ships. Among notable features, the two ships were to have the largest cinemas at sea with eight theatres apiece, and the first theme parks atop a cruise ship with the longest roller coasters at sea. As of now, just one ship — Carnival Cruise Line‘s Mardi Gras — has a roller coaster on its top deck. It was meant to herald a new class of giant cruise ships. Both of the ships were on order for Asia-based Dream Cruises. Both of the vessels were specifically designed for Asian travellers. Construction had started in 2018 and each ship reportedly cost $US 1.8 billion. But those dreams were shattered when German shipbuilder MV Werften filed for bankruptcy back in January of this year, and lacking the funds to finish the colossal cruise liner themselves, the company sought a buyer for the hulking vessel.

Because of the pandemic Carnival, Costa and Pullmantur cruise lines have all sent ships to western Turkey for demolition. Here they'll be ripped to shreds deck by deck and sold for parts. But dismantling a ship that holds 2000 passengers well that's one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. Ship breakers saw off massive sections of the hull and move them overhead. There's millions of dollars worth of parts at stake but any misstep could mean injury or hurting the environment and it's only gotten harder with lots of new arrivals. We take you inside the yard turning these floating hotels into this.

Today we’re going to take a look at ship recycling. It may surprise you to learn that most of history’s passenger ships have ended their days at the hand of the cutters torch – including many of the most famous ships that ever set sail. Ships have ended their days at scrap yards for about as long as ships have been around. Scrapping a ship can be a dangerous activity that requires skill and experience to be carried out successfully. It allows materials such as steel, aluminium, glass and the like, to be extracted, reused and repurposed. This has led to terms like “it’s been turned into razor blades” becoming common slang for the fate of a ship heading to scrap. For the most part, ships are withdrawn from service as newer vessels come online to replace them. This is a gradual process – with some ships being retained longer than others due to high demand, or delays in the construction of their replacements. Most ships that have existed have ended their days in a scrapyard. This includes some of the most famous passenger liners of all time. While scrap is a common fate for most ships, in recent years cruise ships have been kept in service for longer and longer – thanks to the unprecedented global cruising boom experienced over the past few decades. This isn’t to say cruise ships haven’t been broken up during this time, with older vessels such as SS Norway – the former Pacific Princess “Love Boat” and the former P&O Pacific Sky all being scrapped over the last two decades. Costa Victoria, Carnival Fantasy, Carnival Inspiration and Pullmantur’s Sovereign and Monarch have all been sold for scrap in recent months, with the latter four vessels all heading to the same Turkish scrapyard. It might surprise you though that the majority of the things on board the ship, such as dining tables and chairs, beds, lighting and carpets are left aboard and either on-sold or recycled by the scrap yard. While ships like Canberra, Big Red Boat II, Carnival Fantasy, Carnival Inspiration, Sovereign and Monarch sailed to scrap wearing their original name and livery, in some cases ships bound for the scrap yard may be renamed and de-branded before their final voyage. For example, the SS Norway was renamed Blue Lady before she made her final journey to Alang. Norwegian Cruise Line branding was removed from the ship in advance of her final voyage. While the media attention has been grabbed with dramatic footage of cruise ships being driven up onto the beach under their own power – this is not always the case. Norway, for example, was taken under tow owing to her engines being unserviceable after an on board explosion – which was actually the cause of her exit from service. More recently this was seen with the Costa Concordia. Having been partially re-floated, the ship was towed to Genoa in Italy where she was dismantled. Some ships are harder to scrap than others, which can make the process very drawn out, as was the case with the Canberra. Some yards will commence the process with a ceremonial ‘cutting off the bow’, which we’ve seen occur on the Monarch in Turkey. As visually mesmerizing as it is compelling, Shipbreakers takes the viewer into the heart of Alang, India, a vibrant shantytown where 40,000 people live and work in the most primitive conditions. Since the early '80s, the rusting hulks of thousands of the world's largest ships have been driven onto the remote beaches of Alang, off the Arabian Sea, to be dismantled, piece by piece. Sold for scrap, the ship owners rarely bother to abide by the UN Basel Convention, which bans shipments of transboundary waste. One worker a day, on average, dies on the job, some from explosions or falls, but many will contract cancers caused by asbestos, PCBs and other toxic substances. Shipbreakers vividly captures both the haunting beauty of the ships and the deplorable conditions of the workersin an unforgettable portrayal where Third World ingenuity meets 21st century global economics. So many cruise ships are sold for scrap in 2020! Most modern cruise ships have service lives of 40 years or more. While it is not uncommon to see cruise ships built in the 1970's and 1980's go to the breakers, older vessels are usually transferred first to another, smaller cruise operator a market that is often referred to as "secondhand tonnage." It's more unusual is to see relatively young vessels head to the breakers. Yet that is precisely what is beginning to happen, due to the coronavirus pandemic! Mass scrapping of cruise ships: During the boom times, the retirement and scrapping of ships is more of a trickle than a flood. High demand for ocean travel has always led to older ships finding a role in a supplementary capacity. Older cruise ships were retained by cruise lines during the cruise boom of the 1990s and 2000s, even as newer cruise ships were built. Many of the ships that no longer fit their original line were sold to new operators and managed to draw a crowd either through offering cheaper or niche products, and there was plenty of demand to justify keeping the older ships in service for longer. The crash of 1929 and the subsequent impact of the Great Depression led to mass layoffs of passenger ships. Demand for travel decreased dramatically and it stayed that way for years. This left lines with little choice but to retire and scrap their old ships, and a lot of the famous passenger ships of their day were scrapped during this time this included the Mauretania, the Leviathan and even the Olympic sister ship to the Titanic! Fast forward to the late 40s and 50s and this period of time was considered a golden age for travel. Ocean liners were still really the only way to travel, though post-war piston driven airliners were improving, a boost in tourism led to many people taking to the sea for the first time in search of adventure. But in 1958 everything changed when Boeing introduced its revolutionary 707 jet. This isn't the same sort of collapse that we're seeing from the impacts of COVID. While COVID impacted all cruise lines at the same time with the same severity due to the nature of the health-related shutdown, the airlines lured passengers away from ships over time... slowly at first then faster and faster until almost the entire passenger shipping industry - as it was - disappeared. Some of these ships like Queen Mary and France were saved, but many more ended up at scrapyards. People thought the decline of passenger ships would endure but out of the ocean liner extinction a new opportunity arose cruising! Cruising had existed for decades but the ability for jet aircraft to bring travellers to cruise ports coupled with the abundance of laid up passenger ships for sale meant new companies such as Carnival Cruise Line and Norwegian Cruise Line could flourish, and flourish they did. Until today, we are seeing an unusually high number of cruise ships scrapped at this time, and this situation is highly unusual but if we look back at history we can see other times of crisis that passenger ships and shipping lines ultimately overcame. Dismantling the rusting hulks of the world’s largest ships, the workers have no protection from injury or death. On average, one worker dies every day, some from explosions or falls, but many from cancers caused by asbestos, PCBs and other toxic substances. This visually stunning film vividly captures the haunting shells of decaying industrial machinery as well as the deplorable conditions of workers in 21st century global economics. I have Titanic, Olympic, Queen Mary, Ocean Liner, and other interesting Historical documentaries. It is a passion of mine to share the amazing Titanic story for the generations to come. This sentenced metal giant has spent its who life transporting oil, coal, metal, containers, or passengers and is speeding up for the last time. This journey will be a short one, the ship will run into the sandy beach at full speed in just a couple minutes. It looks like an unfortunate whale that decided to throw itself ashore. However, even though we still don't understand whales' behavior, what's happening with these ships is perfectly clear. Tiny people climb onto it like ants using gas torches and hammer drills to start digging in. This is the ship's last months of life. It's simultaneously highly profitable and extremely dangerous work, taking the lives of dozens of people. #Pandora US#
What happened to Carnival Ecstasy? We take a look back over the 31 years of service that Carnival Ecstasy spent with Carnival Cruise Line. Carnival Ecstasy Tour: 🤍 [About This Video] Carnival Ecstasy has been sold and will soon become melted-down steel metal. The 1991 launched ship was the second vessel in Carnival Cruise Line's successful Fantasy-class lineup and became a victim of the cruise industry shutdown in 2020 as cruise lines did everything they could to try to stay in business. The final voyage for Carnival Ecstasy was on October 10, 2022, from Mobile, Alabama, to Cozumel and Progresso, Mexico. On October 15, it debarked guests from the lido deck for the last time, and sailed to Miami. It offloaded casino equipment in South Florida before leaving for the scrapyard in Turkey.
