Nabeel Asif Qureshi (1983-2017) was raised as a devout Ahmadi Muslim. After spending several years examining the evidence for Christianity and Islam with his friend David Wood, Nabeel became a Christian while attending Eastern Virginia Medical School. His ongoing studies took him to Biola University, Duke University, and Oxford University, and led to three books: "Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus," "No God But One," and "Answering Jihad." Following a battle with stomach cancer, Nabeel passed away on September 16, 2017. He is survived by his wife Michelle and his daughter Ayah. RZIM Will No Longer Do Apologetics Top RZIM leaders in the US and Asia have known about allegations against Zacharias since at least 2008, when an Indian team member reported to the head of the Singapore board that Zacharias had been seen with a woman he wasn’t related to in a Singapore hotel. Zacharias was holding her hand and appeared to be intimate with her. Zacharias dismissed it as a misunderstanding, and the ministry did not investigate, according to internal documents obtained by CT. The team member raised the issue again in 2012, along with questions about Zacharias’s solo trips to Thailand, where Zacharias owned two apartments—one for himself and one for a massage therapist. The ministry didn’t investigate then either. The Singapore board instead launched a full inquiry into whether the team member was spreading rumors about Zacharias. “Directors agreed that derogative remarks of any kind by any of the parties must cease immediately as they do not glorify the Lord,” the Singapore board chair wrote in a 2012 email obtained by CT. “We are of the same conviction that brothers should reconcile where there have been misunderstandings. … The work of RZIM is making great impact on unbelievers and any public dispute will bring irreparable damage to parties concerned and the organization.” Similar arguments were made at RZIM’s other international offices. Team members in India, the US, the UK, and Canada told CT that when they raised concerns, they were dismissed. Leadership pointed to Zacharias’s reputation. In Islam, is it a sin to wish someone was dead? Christian apologist and best-selling author Nabeel Qureshi announced Tuesday evening that he has been diagnosed with advanced stomach cancer and will be stepping out from his traveling ministry work and cancelling scheduled speaking engagements. Qureshi, a Christian convert from Islam whose new book, No God But One: Allah or Jesus? was released Tuesday, took to his Facebook page to inform his fans and followers of the troubling news of his illness, saying that the prognosis is "quite grim." "This is an announcement that I never expected to make, but God in His infinite and sovereign wisdom has chosen me for this refining, and I pray He will be glorified through my body and my spirit," Qureshi wrote. "My family and I have received the news that I have advanced stomach cancer, and the clinical prognosis is quite grim. Nonetheless, we are going to pursue healing aggressively, both medical and miraculous, relying on God and the fact that He is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine." A Zondervan publicity manager told The Christian Post on Wednesday that Qureshi received his cancer diagnosis last week around the time he was celebrating his 11th anniversary of his conversion from Islam to Christianity. Although his announcement comes just hours after the roll out of his new book, which discusses the inconsistencies of Islam and the evidence for Christianity, Qureshi assured in his post that the illness has not affected his Christian faith. "In the past few days my spirits have soared and sank as I pursue the Lord's will and consider what the future might look like, but never once have I doubted this: that Jesus is Lord, His blood has paid my ransom, and by His wounds I am healed," he wrote. "I have firm faith that my soul is saved by the grace and mercy of the Triune God, and not by any accomplishment or merit of my own. I am so thankful that I am a child of the Father, redeemed by the Son, and sealed in the Spirit. No, in the midst of the storm, I do not have to worry about my salvation, and for that I praise you, God." Qureshi decided to take a leave from traveling ministry and has already canceled most of his speaking events, with a few exceptions. However, he still plans to let his voice be heard through internet platforms. "From this point on until such a time as the Lord might choose to heal me, I intend to blog or vlog about my journey with cancer, transparently offering my heart, thoughts, and struggles in case they might encourage others and glorify God," he explained. Nabeel Qureshi (April 13, 1983 – September 16, 2017) was a Pakistani-American Christian apologist, author, speaker, and convert from the Ahmadiyya movement of Islam. Ahmadi Muslims worldwide are estimated to be around 10-20 million. The Ahmadiyya’s beliefs are more closely related to those of the Sunni Muslims than the Shi’a Muslims. The Ahmadis are guided by the Five Pillars of Islam and believe in the 6 Articles of Faith. They also accept the Quran as their holy book and pray five times a day while facing the Kaaba. Ahmadis practice Sunnah and accept the Authority of the Hadiths. However, their distinguishing characteristic is their belief in Mizra as the Promised Messiah and redeemer as was promised by the Islamic Prophet Muhammad. Mizra’s aim was to propagate Islam throughout the world through peaceful means and to revive the forgotten Islamic values such as peace, sympathy, and forgiveness. If Jesus really did rise from the dead, that changes everything. Having gone through a secular school, having gone through schooling from various different perspectives, I've seen what happens to people when they don't believe in the supernatural, when they don't believe that there's more to this life. What I was taught going into medical school is that we have just evolved out of a cosmic accident. There was a big bang, and that the world was one of many planets and galaxies that just happened to form the way it did because of natural principles. And once life was created, it evolved out of from one form of life, all of everything we see on this earth has evolved. If that's true, what does that say about us? It says that we are purposeless, unintentioned pieces of carbon that have no value except what we can experience while we're here. That's it. I'm an accident, you're an accident. I'm no more valuable in an ultimate sense than the chair I'm sitting on and the ground I walk on. Now if the resurrection happened, if a man rose from the dead, all of a sudden all of this naturalistic bias goes out the window, there's something more to this world than simply believing that we are one accident after another after another after another that produced life. There's more to this world. All of a sudden it's quite plausible that God exists. And what is that God? Who is he? If he's Jesus, then he is a God of love. He is a God who's willing to pour himself out for his creation. That means there's no reason to despair God can raise you from the dead! That means there's no reason to be without hope because God has worked together for the good of those who love him all things! That changes absolutely everything, and all of a sudden, I don't have to worry about living as much as I can before I die. It means I have to live as much as I can for the sake of others. Pour myself out for them, because if this world is going to end and people are going to rise from the dead, then nothing is going to last throughout eternity except people. And so there's no reason for me to live for my bank account. There's no reason for me to live for the car I'm driving, for the house, for the nest egg, for the inheritance. That's not a good reason to live because that's all going to wither away. The only reason for me to live is for people. And so I'm going to pour myself out for the sake of others, which, by the way, studies have shown is the only way people ever feel fulfilled, when they live for other people. It all comes together under that Christian theology, it all begins to make sense if the resurrection actually happened. It changes everything! WATCH MORE: 🤍
