Coming off a legacy of over 60 years of Leica M and on the heals of the M10-r - Leica has announced a camera with a 60 megapixel, tri-resolution sensor that is capable of 60mp, 36mp or 18mp with full sensor and 14 bit color readout in both RAW DNG and JPG formats. Using oversampling and pixel binning, lower resolutions give better noise performance at high ISO settings as well as an extra stop of dynamic range. It's 2023 and Leica just announced the new M11 Monochrom. It's only slightly more (around $200) than the standard M11, but we're still talking just under $9200 USD (current price at B&H). At the same time, Leica is still selling the older M10-R for the same price as the brand-new M11. Is it worth it? Which is the best value digital Leica M to buy right now? I've been shooting with the Canon P for about a year and a half now and I have to say it is one of the most well-built and well-designed cameras I've ever used. I have taken this camera all over the United States with me and its durability is absolutely tank like. The Canon P is a much more affordable rangefinder than its Leica, Zeiss Contax, or even Nikon counterparts.
