The Smart Home industry has been spreading lies and half truths about Wifi for years to promote Zigbee, and I will PROVE that they aren't true in this video. Zigbee has its place in your smart home, but it's overpriced and only really has one scenario where it has any benefit over Wifi. Cheap Zigbee devices do exist, but they're few and far between, and anyone looking for a beginners guide to the smart home is going to find people promoting Philips Hue and Zigbee. The truth is that there are MUCH cheaper options out there and Zigbee's main selling points are too complicated for any beginner. When weighing up Zigbee versus Wifi there are lots of factors consider, and I'm not saying there's never any reason to buy Zigbee, I have plenty of Zigbee devices in my smart home, but it is an expensive starting point, and the myths that surround Wifi are hampering market growth. Zigbee is something people should graduate to once they decide they want more automation outside of Alexa and Google home.
