Fighting hard right down to the last moto at the final round of the 2023 FIM SuperEnduro World Championship, Taddy Blazusiak was able to help GASGAS clinch the manufacturer's title and secure himself a bronze medal in the overall champiionship standings! Every dirt bike enthusiast must have dreamed of getting a 2 stroke supermoto at some point of their lives just as we had. We finally had time early this year and kicked off our “The Dream Retirement” project. When Gas Gas unveiled their first EC line under KTM group back in 2020 we purchased one and filmed and unboxing & review video. Link; 🤍 This very stock EC250 was ridden by Travis Teasdale during Sea to Sky Hard Enduro 2021 and made history by winning the Beach Race on Day1 and becoming overall P3 with a 250. Because it was going to shine on the street, we upgraded engine with 300 kit and used or 2023 bike as the organ donor. Scratched bits such as swing arm and fuel tank. We can’t thank enough to Mr Vural Ak and the Intercity Istanbul Park Formula 1 Track management for their hospitality. We were honoured to be their guest and used the pit garage for the installation part. To start with the conversion there are some vital parts to decide according to your preferences. SUSPENSION COMPONENTS Every one knows that the WP XPLOR Forks that comes with the stock EC250 is a great one but that was not going to handle the street conditions. WP Suspension was kind enough to provide technical consultation on our project and advised us to go with their top-of-the-line XACT PRO forks and shock. I can not talk or write enough how great they are. XACT PRO 7448 Forks - 🤍 XACT PRO 8950 Shock - 🤍 2. BRAKE COMPONENTS This is a must especially with a 2T one because you will not have classic 4T supermoto engine braking option. We called and discussed a lot with Rolf Verhagen at Moto-Master and his guidance was vital on the subject. For front brake, we mutually decided to go with Flame Supermoto Racing Kit. This a setup right for the bike but the problem was the front wheel was a 16.5”. We got in touch with their sub-contractor to replace it with a 17” but it was a dead end and decided to buy a whole new set from Haan Wheels. They were smooth, responsive and very fast. Gas Gas and WP Suspension teamed up with Enduro Life Media to support Travis Teasdale’s Sea to Sky 2022 adventure. Being a privateer and coming all the way from South Africa, it is an expensive journey for any privateer to compete in such an organization. In 2021 we gave one of our own stock Gas Gas EC 250 to Travis and he made history with it. South African won the Beach Race and became overall P3 with a 250. This year we decided to gave him a better bike and brought the idea to Gas Gas and WP officials. They loved the idea and jumped right in with the project. We were able to convert our 2023 stock EC 250 into an EC 300 Factory Replica with all the necessary parts that are provided by Gas Gas Official and WP Suspension. We briefly put a sequence from the built period into this one but a detailed one will be published soon. Travis started to his racing week with a P1 at the Beach Race prologue on Day 1 and jumped into the finals in the afternoon. The finals didn’t start as he planned, with a bit of starting order chaos, but he then quickly recovered all the way up to 2nd in lap 3. The rock garden was a bit too technical for the backmarkers and lapping them wasn’t easy. He got stuck several times there and finished P8 in the end. On Day 2 he lined up for the Forest Race through the Taurus Mountains. After having a fast and flowing day Travis came home with P3. Day 3 featured the Sky Race for all the challengers. After nearly two hours of racing Travis got his best ever result of the week, P1, but the margins were so close, he was still 3rd overall before the main Mountain Race on Day 4. After the whole-shot at the beach, Travis got the lead and guided the pack into the riverbed. For the better part of the early stages into the last day he was keeping up with the leading pack but then overall P4 contender David Cyprian managed to gap further till the end. After nearly 4 hours of racing Travis reached to the finish line with P4, Day 4 and overall. We can not thank enough to Gas Gas Official and WP Suspension for all they have done to support Travis’s Sea to Sky 2022 journey.
