Learn how to create your own Wikipedia page, step-by-step, from start to finish! We'll cover everything you need to know to make a Wikipedia page on your PC or Mac. #Wikipedia Steps: 1. Go to 🤍wikipedia.org in your web browser and click on the language version that you want to use. 2. In the upper-right corner, click Log In. 3. Click in the box labelled “Enter your user name” and type in your user name. Then click on the box labelled “Enter your password” and type in your password (it will appear as bullet points to protect it from prying eyes). Finally, click the Log In button. 4. You will notice that the menu in the top-right corner has changed. Click on Sandbox. 5. Your “Sandbox” is your personal editing space, where you can practice how to create and edit pages, and even submit new pages to Wikipedia once they’re done. The top toolbar gives you some quick formatting options, such as bolding or italicizing your font, inserting a hyperlink or image, or using other common formatting conventions (such as lists or tables). The bottom toolbar lets you add special characters, including codes that have various effects on Wikipedia. The middle of the page is your main window, where you’ll start typing to bring your article to life! 6. If you’re still totally lost, type 🤍 into your web browser to get an easy example of how to create a Wikipedia article. 7. When you’re done, you can click Show Preview to see what your article will actually look like once it’s up on Wikipedia. If you like what you see, you can click Save Page. 8. If you’re satisfied and want to try to make your page available for everyone who visits Wikipedia to see, click Submit Your Draft for Review. Then click Save Page again when you get to the next screen. You’ll probably get plenty of feedback from the community on things that are good or can be improved. Don’t be discouraged if your article doesn’t pass the first time; just take the feedback you get into consideration and try again, or ask for help on a “talk” page. Either way, you’ve taken your first step towards contributing to a global archive of shared knowledge!

What motivates experts to contribute to Wikipedia? Yan Chen, an economics professor at University of Michigan, ran a field experiment to find out. Wikipedia is one of the most-visited sites in the world, and for good reason—it’s off-the-charts useful! That's remarkable considering it's created entirely by volunteers. But sometimes, Wikipedia articles can be incomplete or flat wrong because they lack the contributions of experts. How can we solve this? This video covers Yan Chen’s field study on what motivates experts to contribute to Wikipedia. Citations? Public acknowledgement? Just asking? This video is based on the paper: Motivating Experts to Contribute to Public Goods: A Personalized Field Experiment on Wikipedia by Yan Chen, Rosta Farzan, Robert Kraut, Iman Yeckeh Zaare and Ark Fangzhou Zhang. 🤍 More of Yan Chen’s work: 🤍 Are you a teacher? HOW WIKIPEDIA EARNS MONEY?||BUSINESS MODEL OF WIKIPEDIA ?
Wikipedia is a large internet encyclopedia where individuals can read information on all sort of subjects: ancient civilizations and politics, hiking, engineering, extreme sports, famous people, UFOs, medicines and drugs, animals, mega cities and anything you can imagine. One of the best things about Wikipedia is that average people like you and me can add and edit the information that is published on the web site and also add pertinent links and resources. As you can guess, clever people can use Wikipedia to send traffic and clients to their sites and also to build backlinks in order to improve their search engine rankings. In order to start capitalising on Wikipedia these are the steps you want to follow: 1: Find wikipedia pages that are pertinent to your niche For example, if you've a web site about learning to play the piano you're going to discover a lot of Wikipedia pages which are relevant to music and arts; if your site is about traveling to china you'll find several Wikipedia pages which are relevant travel and china. 2: Now you need to explore each of the pages you've found and find out if you are able to add your own resources and links. This is the hardest part since it's not simple to get by Wikipedia moderators. As you can guess, you must add great quality information. If you choose to post spam you and your IP address will most likely be banned from the web site. 3: Become active in Wikipedia If you just edit Wikipedia articles to add your own business and links, the moderating squad will most likely block your IP address and cancel your account for spamming the website. The best method to avoid this trouble is to get active in the community. For example, you can edit and add information to pages that are not related to your business. If you edit a large amount of pages and add worthy information, in all likelihood your self-serving edits won't be detected.

Every year Wikipedia holds a donation fundraiser, aiming to raise money for Wikipedia and it's sister projects. Many people believe Wikipedia is in dire need of money to keep the project running. How did Wikipedia become the world's fifth most visited website? Its volunteer editors play a huge role (with a small portion of them providing the vast majority of the content), as do its administrators and bots. WikiProjects also coordinate volunteer efforts by improving articles of interest (and helping some become featured articles). Fundraising campaigns that seek donations through banner ads also help, but won't make or break the encyclopedia at this point as the Wikimedia Foundation has successfully created a $100 million endowment. The world's biggest encyclopedia's success is stunning given that it hasn't run ads since it was founded by Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger in 2001. Jimmy "Jimbo" Wales, founder of Wikipedia created the world's biggest encyclopedia in 2001. It is owned and operated by the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation, which run various initiative such as Wikipedia ZERO. Jimbo explains how Wikipedia works - entirely run by volunteers who are passionate about the subject area they write on and if its not accurate then let them know... they will rectify it because they want Wikipedia to be as accurate and reliable as possible.
Since it first went online in 2001, Wikipedia has grown beyond the seemingly boundless online library of information it is today, to leave behind a distinct cultural imprint. For millions across the world, the website is the first stop for answers to some of their most pressing questions..

I've started noticing Wikipedia use the most bizarre images for their celebrity pages, so I decided to find out why.
Have you ever noticed that no matter what you're googling, for some reason, Wikipedia is always at the top of page one? It's like, how the heck do you beat them? How are they ranking for everything out there? RESOURCES & LINKS: Clutch: 🤍 Ubersuggest: 🤍 So, how do you generate millions of visitors like Wikipedia? Because your site can't be about everything. Remember, Google likes ranking niche websites. Sure, Wikipedia ranks for everything but it's very unlikely that you're going to rank for everything like them. So, how do you get millions of visitors like them? So, let's head on over to Ubersuggest. When you head on over to Ubersuggest, type in the Wikipedia URL within your language. So, I speak English, my website is mainly in English, so I'll type in en.wikipedia.org. And then just click Search. This is going to pull up a Traffic Overview report, which shows you roughly how much traffic that Wikipedia is getting. So, what I want you to do now is, you can see how many keywords are ranking for their traffic, but as you're scrolling down, you can see their top pages. I want you to scroll up a little bit and click on View the Pages that Drive Traffic to this Domain Name. This is the Top Pages section within Ubersuggest. You can also find Top Pages on the left-hand navigation. But I want you to click View the Pages that Drive Traffic to this Domain. And you'll notice something here. I want you to look at the pages that are driving in the most amount of traffic. They're ranking for a lot of random keywords, but there's trend. What do you see here? Let me scroll back up, maybe it will help ya. A lot of the keywords that they're getting traffic for are company names. People search for company names. And here's the thing that most people don't tell you. Company names aren't that competitive. So, a quick thing that you can do if you want a lot of traffic like Wikipedia is to write blog articles for all the company-related names within your space. Because if you see here and you click the View All under Estimated Visits, you can see all the variations of each company name that Wikipedia is getting a lot of traffic for. And it adds up to a ton of keywords, and is getting them a ton of traffic. So, what I want you to do is do something similar to a site called Clutch. So, Clutch is this review site for services and agencies. And if you go to Clutch, and you type in any sort of marketing thing out here, it's a paid service, they have some free listings as well, but you can go to profiles. Now, you don't necessarily have to generate reviews or anything like that. It could be the things within your space or e-commerce products. It could be services. It could be retail stores, it could be anything. And I want you to create corporate pages on each and every single one of those companies. So, I want you to go out there, and go create content for each company that's within your space. And you're probably wondering, "Neil, why would I do this? Why would I want to create articles on my competition?" By no means am I telling you to bash them. You shouldn't do that. You should write neutral articles that look good on you and look good on them. What I mean by that is if you paint the competitor in the fairest most natural light, how consumers see them, that's great because it helps you build trust, and that makes you look better. So, you want to write a article that paints a accurate picture. And by painting a accurate picture, it makes you look good and them look good. And what happens is when you have these articles that talk about your competition, some of those people will click on over to your services page. They may click on the Consulting link, just like I have a Consulting link here on the neilpatel.com site, and then you can generate more leads. Or if it's products, they'll click on your products, and you can generate more sales as well. So, that's it. ► If you need help growing your business check out my ad agency Neil Patel Digital 🤍 ►Subscribe: 🤍 to learn more secret SEO tips. ►Find me on Facebook: 🤍 ►On Instagram: 🤍 🤍 #SEO #NeilPatel #DigitalMarketing
