The rio Claro is a river that you can only truly appreciate its glory, and many sections are only possible to access, by kayaking it. It is about as narrow, and committing as kayaking gets. It is one of my favorite runs in the world, and by far one of the most beautiful. The chrystal clear water, the towering overhanging walls of the gorge, and the endless drops. It is a place like one other, and I am always counting down the days till I can drop back in.

Only the road in this case is Scotland’s Forth Estuary, an arm of the North Sea near Edinburgh, and the puppy is an energetic gray seal, probably a juvenile. After tailing kayaker Alistair Forrest and his companion for about a mile, the seal took advantage of a break in the paddling to hop aboard Forrest's kayak. De band werd in 1972 opgericht door Ton Scherpenzeel (toetsen), Pim Koopman (drums), Max Werner (zang), Jean Michel Marion (basgitaar) en Johan Slager (gitaar). De band kwam voort uit de scholierenband van Scherpenzeel en Koopman, High Tide Formation. In datzelfde jaar werd Marion vervangen door Cees van Leeuwen. Met hun eerste twee albums (See see the sun en Kayak II) behaalde de band enkele kleine nationale successen. In 1975 stapte Van Leeuwen uit de band en werd vervangen door Bert Veldkamp. Hierop volgde de opname van Royal bed bouncer. In datzelfde jaar leverde de band een bijdrage voor het Boekenweekgeschenk, het album Zing Je Moerstaal. Kayak vertolkte het gedicht 'Boezem' van Harry Mulisch op muziek van Ton. Na de opnamen van The last encore (1976) verlieten Koopman en Veldkamp de band. Koopman scoorde vanaf 1978 een aantal grote successen met zijn band Diesel. Daarnaast was hij producent van het duo Maywood. Vervangers in Kayak waren drummer Charles-Louis Schouten en bassist Theo de Jong. De grootste hit tot dan toe werd behaald met de gelijknamige single van het album Starlight Dancer. Werner gaf, na de opname van dit album, aan de microfoon definitief in te willen ruilen voor de drumstokjes. Scherpenzeel wil Werner als groepslid niet kwijt en biedt hem de plaats achter de drumkit aan, ten koste van Charles-Louis Schouten. Theo de Jong heeft er op deze manier ook geen zin meer in en verlaat, ondanks het succes van het laatste album, de band. Edward Reekers, die al jaren fan van de groep was, werd de nieuwe zanger, na door een aantal vrienden aangespoord te zijn om vooral een democassette op te sturen. Peter Scherpenzeel (de broer van Ton en voorheen roadie van de band) wordt de nieuwe bassist en meteen werden er ook twee achtergrondzangeressen aangenomen: Irene Linders (popjournaliste en partner van Ton Scherpenzeel) en Katherine Lapthorn (partner van Peter Scherpenzeel). Dat dit een goede beslissing was, bleek uit het enorme succes dat de band had met het album Phantom of the night en dan vooral met de single Ruthless queen die een zesde plaats haalde in de Nederlandse top-40, al zijn Werner en Slager het aanvankelijk niet eens met het feit dat er achtergrondzangeressen aan de band worden toegevoegd. In 1980 leverde de band de titelmuziek bij de film Spetters van Paul Verhoeven (het nummer Spetters, dat als Lost blue of Chartres op het album Periscope life verscheen). In 1981 werd de rock-opera Merlin opgenomen die een zijde van het gelijknamige album inneemt. Hoewel dit album als een van de beste van de band bekendstaat behaalde het nauwelijks commercieel succes. Merlin grijpt wat terug op de symfonische rock die de groep begin jaren '70 maakte maar dit muziekgenre is begin jaren '80 een stuk minder populair. Dit is onder andere te wijten aan de opkomst van de punk-beweging eind jaren '70. De achtergrondzangeressen verlieten de band en na de opname van Eyewitness leek het einde van de band een feit. Overigens wordt Eyewitness alleen nog uitgebracht om aan de contractuele verplichtingen van de platenmaatschappij te voldoen. Eyewitness is een semi-live album, d.w.z. een in de studio opgenomen album waarbij het applaus en gejoel van het publiek pas later zijn toegevoegd. Op het album staan vooral oudere nummers van de band, aangevuld met 3 nieuwe nummers. Eind 1981/begin 1982 valt het doek voor Kayak. Scherpenzeel richtte in 1982 de band Europe op (niet te verwarren met de gelijknamige Zweedse groep), met John Philippo (zanger van de voormalige Nederlandse symfonische rockband Sfinx en ook korte tijd zanger van Kayak) en daarin nog 2 ex-leden van Kayak (Slager en Veldkamp), waarmee een titelloos debuutalbum werd opgenomen. Het grote succes bleef echter uit en Europe werd in 1984 ontbonden. Ton Scherpenzeel speelde daarna enige tijd bij de Britse band Camel en de Nederlandse band Earth & Fire, om later de muzikale begeleider van cabaretier Youp van 't Hek te worden.

Cercherò di pescare le seppie dal kayak, utilizzando le classiche totanare pescando a scarroccio. Per pescare le seppie sono necessarie due condizioni fondamentali: mare calmo e leggero scarroccio (quindi poco vento) e acqua molto limpida. In queste condizioni le seppie possono vedere la nostra esca da lontano, e pescarle diventa molto più facile e divertente! Did you know over 19% of the Netherlands was water? That is a larger percentage then that of America and Canada combined! Needless to say that means there is a lot of water to explore. Now The Netherlands might not be on top of your paddling list, but it should definitely be on there! As Dutch we have been battling against water for ages. And in doing so we have created many "Polders". Polders are embanked areas of water which are drained and repurposed. And after creating over 4000 thousand of them, we also created some of the most beautiful places to paddle! Such as the Eilandspolder! Everyone here at Los Buzos has been looking forward to this day since the beginning. We have had many clients hook these big black marlin but none have been able to hold on long enough to get the leader... until NOW! Scott has been visiting us for years and is on his 7th trip! It is amazing to have awesome fishermen like him coming back for so many visits. It really goes to show how amazing our fishery is. This time it really paid off for him! We are all shocked at the short amount of time that it took for him to bring the fish to the kayak. My marlin fight back in 2019 took me 5 hours as the fish towed me 12 miles... this fish was at the boat in 45 minutes! Unbelievable catch... then later in the week Scott tops it off by catching a Cubera snapper that crushes the world record by 4 inches! The fishing here is insane. We still have lots of spots available too!
