However, raw milk contains unique proteins, friendly microbes, fatty acids, and lactase-producing bacteria. Lactase is an enzyme that helps break down lactose. People who have difficulties digesting milk can typically drink raw milk without any problems. Personally, I don't consume raw milk—I consume fermented raw milk products, like cheese and kefir. Raw milk gives you a better absorption of calcium and fat-soluble vitamins. It also has proteins that can help support your immune system. Raw milk even has an anti-stiffness factor that may benefit people with arthritis and inflammation. It's also important to get your milk from A2 cows. There are a lot of problems associated with A1 milk, so it’s best to buy dairy products that contain A2 milk. There are many nutritional benefits of raw, unpasteurized milk. I’m gonna go through several and show why they are unique to raw milk, and don’t apply to pasteurized milk. Most of the information in this video is backed by research which can be found on the Weston A. Price Foundation website, and their campaign for raw milk website: 🤍 🤍 ————— RAW MILK BENEFITS 1. Lots of good bacteria • Some people estimate that an average adult has about 6 lbs of good bacteria in our gut that is essential to life. But due to the constant barrage of chemicals from pesticides and whatnot in our modern day, our bacterial balance is usually out of whack, but raw milk is a great way to restore some order to that imbalance. Raw milk is a living substance that contains lots of bacteria that is extremely beneficial and sometimes necessary for our digestive and healthy bodily functions. • Pasteurization kills all bacteria (even the good stuff) 2. Good source of protein • Milk is a great source of protein due to the fact that it’s balanced by high levels of saturated fat and certain vitamins which are necessary for proper utilization of protein by our bodies. • During pasteurization, the proteins change shape so that they can’t be digested normally and causes your body to perceive them as a threat, leading to milk allergies in many cases. 3. Lots of enzymes • One of the great things about milk is that it’s easy to digest due to the high levels of naturally occurring enzymes. In many ways raw milk digests itself. My wife was lactose intolerant until she switched to raw milk! Now she has no issues with milk. • Pasteurization destroys the fragile enzymes therefore making it harder to digest and sometimes causing lactose intolerance. 4. Very satisfying • Milk contains a good balance of macro-nutrients (like complex sugars, high-quality proteins, and saturated fat) and lots of micro-nutrients (cholesterol, calcium, vitamin A, and others) • In addition to affecting other nutrients, pasteurization changes the sugar to be easier for the body to absorb. Good, right? NO! Sugar is one of the things that we don’t want to be easy to absorb. Fast acting sugars cause a quick spike in blood sugar, to which your body will respond by an over-release of insulin, and that’s followed by a sudden loss of energy shortly after due to the sugar being quickly absorbed and depleted. You repeat this process to many times and it will almost certainly result in diabetes. CONCLUSION: After an honest assessment of raw vs pasteurized milk, almost everyone will admit that raw milk is vastly superior from a nutritional standpoint. But, then the objection is raised that, “even though raw milk is more nutritious, it can be contaminated and therefore is inherently dangerous and pasteurization (while not ideal) is necessary and our saving grace.” Are they right? Health officials in Ontario say raw milk isn't safe for human consumption and therefore it is illegal. Some people though, will go far to get milk that is not pasteurized. Ontario dairy farmer Michael Schmidt has been locked in a legal battle over raw milk for more than two decades. This video looks at the debate over raw milk.
Raw milk is quite likely THE SAFEST FOOD IN THE WORLD! And in this video I answer 3 important questions many people have about raw and pasteurized milk: 1. Why did people start pasteurizing milk? 2. Is raw milk dangerous? 3. And if so, does pasteurization make milk safer? MY VIDEO ON THE BENEFITS OF RAW MILK 🤍 RAW MILK EVIDENCE 🤍 🤍 🤍 🤍 JOHN HOPKINS STUDY (Medical Errors—3rd leading cause of death) 🤍 1. Why did people start pasteurizing milk? Back in the 1870’s farmers brought their cows to live inside cities in very cramped living conditions. This meant that people in those cities were drinking milk often contaminated with cow feces, and coming from cows who tails were literally rotting. But that wasn’t the reason for pasteurization! The reason given for pasteurization was tuberculosis. Tuberculosis was rampant among both cows and people living in these disgusting industrial revolution cities. So the genius health officials incorrectly assumed that tuberculosis must be transmitted from cows to people by people drinking milk. Fast-forward to today, and modern science has not only revealed that the tuberculosis bacteria lives everywhere in our world, but also that it’s completely harmless to healthy people. It only causes problems when someone’s immune system is basically useless like in the cases of an autoimmune disorder or extreme malnutrition like the people in those 19th century cities were experiencing. Also in a 2002 study, we found out that raw milk contains an enzyme called lactoferrin that kills the tuberculosis bacteria for you. It’s strange how something that kills tuberculosis would be the reason people got tuberculosis. Obviously pasteurization was started for the wrong reason; but that doesn’t necessarily mean that raw milk is safe. 2. Is raw milk dangerous? Every food we eat has the potential to contain a toxin or bacteria that makes us sick. It’s not likely, but sure—it’s possible. Because we need food to survive, the question we need to ask is not, “is raw milk dangerous?” but rather, “does drinking raw milk carry with it a higher chance of contracting food born illness compared to other foods”. The answer is no, it’s actually probably the safest food. And here’s the numbers to prove it. A pathologist by the name of Dr. Ted Beals discovered that from 1999 through 2011, there was an average of 42 cases of illness attributed to raw milk consumption per year. Based on the 2010 US census data and a 2007 survey done by FoodNet (a division of the CDC) we can calculate that the raw milk drinking population was ≈ 9.4 million people. Well, 42 cases per year in a population of 9.4 million people, means you had a 0.00044% chance of food born illness caused by raw milk. Put another way, your odds of getting sick from drinking raw milk were 220,000 : 1. But how does that compare to other foods? Is it close? Not even remotely. The CDC FoodNet division estimated that in 2008 there was a total of 48 million cases of food born illness across all foods. In a population of ≈ 309 million people, that means you have about a 16% chance of getting food born illness each year. Formatted as odds, it’s ≈ 6 : 1. Compare 6 : 1 vs 220,000 : 1, and you can see that based on government numbers, raw milk is 35,000x safer than the average food. I challenge anyone to present evidence to me of a safer food. I’m betting there isn’t one. 3. Does pasteurization make milk safer? I mentioned earlier that raw milk contains the enzyme lactoferrin, which kills the tuberculosis bacteria. Well, pasteurization destroys the enzymes in milk—including lactoferrin and many others that actually support our immune system and neutralize pathogens. Practically speaking, this means we need to work extra hard to keep pasteurized milk safe from contamination because we’ve destroyed the built-in safety measures found in raw milk. There are other factors though, so let’s go by the numbers. Cornell university did a study of CDC data from the years 1973–2009. Based on their criteria, they attributed 1,100 cases of illness to raw milk, and 422,000 cases to pasteurized milk, including 50 deaths. Even adjusting for the lower number of people drinking raw milk, we still see that you were more than 10x as likely to get sick from milk that’s been pasteurized. Personally, I don’t really want to die right now, so I’m gonna keep drinking my milk raw. And next time someone repeats the lie to you that pasteurizing milk is good… maybe ask them: are you TRYING to kill people?!? #DennisRussell #DennisFromScratch #RawMilk

Welcome to the show, Sally. Sally: Thank you. Thanks for having me. Mark: Absolute pleasure. We all have been following Weston A. Price for such a long time since I got into nutrition, so, love to get the listeners and catch them up in a speed, if this is kind of the first time hearing about Weston A. Price. But before we get into that, how did you become one of the world’s shining lights in health and nutrition today? Sally: I sort of almost feel like I’ve got dragged into it. It was just a result of my own personal journey where two things came together, first of all, is my love of cooking and my devotion to really delicious high fat, high cholesterol foods which I love and love to cook and then reading Dr. Price’s book “Nutrition and Physical Degeneration”, that happened in the early 1970’s. It’s a life changing book and showed that these are the various foods that kept people healthy for generations. So, I raised my family this way and I raised my kids with these types of foods, they were superbly healthy. When my youngest was in school full time, I turned my attention to writing the book “Nourishing Traditions”, and when that was through, we felt there was a need for an organization to keep looking at sciences that came through to educate the people on the principles of healthy diet. That’s when we set up Weston A. Price Foundation. Mark: Who was Weston A. Price? Sally: He was actually a dentist in the 1920’s and 1930’s. He travelled throughout the world looking in healthy populations in order to answer the question what is the healthy diet. He mainly looked at people’s teeth and for him the sign of good health was the complete absence of cavities and absence of dental deformity that means no crown or crooked teeth, and that told him that the population on the whole was a healthy population. He took photographs and wrote up his findings in this book “Nutrition and Physical Degeneration” which has been a very influential book for many people. Mark: Mainstream nutrition don’t really like the work of Weston A. Price in a lot of ways because it kind of really disproves a lot of main-stream non-sense…eg. Have 11 servings of grains a day. Can you speak on that a little bit? Sally: Yes, absolutely. What Dr. Price found was very different from what we’ve been told of the healthy diet today. Our healthy diet today is supposed to be based on all of these carbohydrates, mostly grains, like white flower. There were cultures that Dr. Price studied, looked at, that had grains in their diet but these were whole grains and in addition to that, these were grains that were prepared very carefully by soaking or souring process, or in the case of people who eat bread, the bread was sourdough bread which is a kind of fermentation. Because grains have a lot of anti-nutrients and even irritants in them and with as we’re finding out today with all the celiac disease.
